q RICH FOOD
Got some spare change? Must Wine Bar is holding
a $1470-a-head dinner on June 6 featuring a five-course
degustation dinner matched with nine Domaine de la
Romanée-Conti wines, some of the most valuable in
the world. With a price tag like this, the food – most
of which features Manjimup black truffle – is sure to
be just as impressive, if head chef Russell Blaikie has
anything to do with it. There are only 12 seats available,
so book early. 519 Beaufort Street, Highgate.
Walk into Cott & Co Fish Bar, the newest watering hole
at Cottesloe Beach Hotel, and you’ll be met with two
things: a roar of clinking glasses, forks on plates and
loud conversation, and an incredible odour of sautéing
seafood and salty ocean breeze. True to its name, Cott
& Co Fish Bar’s menu is seafood-dominated, paired
with largely Italian ingredients (prosciutto, mozzarella,
polenta) with a smattering of Japanese (soy, bonito
flakes) and Middle Eastern (za’atar spices, preserved
lemon) for good measure. Standout dishes include
the Tomato Bread, Cott & Co’s version of bruschetta,
and the house-made Linguini with North West bugs.
Who cares if you can hardly hear yourself think over
the dining room din? Fresh seafood, epic views and
roaring trade make this beachfront bar a new reason
to love Cottesloe. 104 Marine Parade, Cottesloe.
THE PLEASURE IS ALL OURS
Any restaurant serving desserts like bubblegum soft
serve and s’mores – America’s beloved campfire
dessert of roasted marshmallow and chocolate
between two biscuits – is clearly one that doesn’t
take itself too seriously. Same goes for one that
calls itself Pleased to Meet You. Throw in the fact
that this Northbridge restaurant has rooster sauce
on every table and serves beer out of growlers and
well, as you can imagine, we’re entirely smitten.
The menu, comprising street-food-style share
plates like tacos, sliders and pork crackers, has
us wishing there were a Pleased to Meet You in
every suburb. Little wonder that hospo veteran
Clint Nolan – of Harvest, Who’s Your Mumma and
Cholita fame – is behind this charmingly laid-back
restaurant. 38 Roe Street, Northbridge.
For those who like the
sound of a breakfast burrito
with their morning cup of
joe, North Perth Mexican
restaurant Flying Taco is
now serving brekkie on the
weekends. But wait, it gets
better: they’re also brewing
Antz Inya Pantz filtered
coffee from their lovely new
A cup costs just three bucks
and there are free refills.
Repeat: free refills. We love!
40 Angove Street, Perth.
