NOTHING COMPARES TO YOU
Designer rental boutique Something Borrowed, the
brainchild of local girl Mia Theodoropoulos, is like
having unbridled access to a very stylish friend’s
wardrobe (who, okay, charges you a small fee to borrow
the clothes. But what are you bringing to the relationship,
huh?) As well as the usual suspects – top Australian
designers like Sass & Bide, Manning Cartell, Rachel
Gilbert and Carla Zampatti – Mia stocks her own line,
which she created after customers suggested there
was a gap in the market. “I started my own line as I was
getting feedback from clients about what they wanted in
a dress but couldn’t find anywhere,” says Mia. “Over the
years I put ideas together to create a range which offers
very wearable pieces for all shapes and sizes. Following
her successful debut collection, Mia recently debuted
her second range, Noir Et Blanc. “I wanted to create
something more structured, feminine and romantic.
All styles are black and white and they are embellished
with jewels or lace, to give it that point of difference.
All my designs are exclusive to hire only at Something
Borrowed, so girls can be assured that no one will be
going to the same event in the same dress.” Phew,
no awkward Amanda Seyfried/Anne Hathaway dress
debacles, then! Visit somethingborrowed.net.au.
Some things just aren’t sexy. Pumpkins, novelty socks and
heat packs, for example. But exquisite undergarments
from British lingerie brand Agent Provocateur? Well,
that’s another story (and we’re thinking it skews a little
50 Shades). They’ve just opened a concession boutique
within David Jones in the city, stocking the main
collection plus classics, bridal, swim, hosiery, accessories
and a beauty range. Bringing sexy back has never been
easier. Head to David Jones, 622 Hay Street, Perth.
The Melbourne-born, European-inspired label Politix
has just set up shop in enex100 on Hay Street – keep
an eye out for oversized pictures of soccer star Harry
Kewell (above) as your signposts to sartorial heaven.
This isn’t the kind of store you’ll leave wondering
what the hell you just bought – the classic, curated
selection of accessories and clothing means you’ll
always look sharp. Head to Shop H109, enex100,
683-703 Hay Street, Perth, politix.com.au.
