If you see a gown draped over dinosaur
bones in the WA Museum, you’re not
dreaming. A retrospective exhibition
of designer Aurelio Costarella sees his
designs displayed among the museum’s
artifacts. “When designing some of my
previous collections I’ve been inspired
by the extraordinary light or the unique
landscape that is Western Australia so it
is perfectly fitting that my gowns be exhibited in and among the State’s natural
and social history collections,” he says. Launched the same night, Frock Stars:
Inside Australian Fashion Week gives visitors a virtual backstage pass into what
really goes down at the invitation-only fashion event.

more than 160,000 minerals, rocks, fossils and

4. SHIPWRECK GALLERIES | The leading
maritime archaeology museum in the Southern
Hemisphere houses hundreds of ship relics
