Meet the animals
Caversham Wildlife Park has a variety of
activities in which the kids can get up close and
personal with some furry Australian friends.
The interactive daily shows feature Aussie icons
such as wombats, koalas and kangaroos. Or, if
you’ve had enough of the natives, try your hand
at milking a cow or cracking a stockwhip during
the Farm Show. Get the camera ready, in case
your aspiring farmer gets a chance to volunteer.
Rain, hail or shine, your furry friend will relish
a romp in the 2.5ha Dog Park at Whiteman
Park. The area is located in Mussel Pool East
precinct and, while it is completely fenced off,
there are still a few doggie directions owners
should read on the website or entry signs. The
highlight is undeniably the obstacle course,
designed in special hues so our colour-blind
pals won’t get confused.
Get your adventure fix
The seemingly quiet countryside is also a mecca
for thrill-seekers of all ages. Adventure Out
offers an action-packed morning of abseiling,
followed by a leisurely paddle down the river.
For something a little gutsier, paintballing with
Paintball Skirmish is definitely the way to go.
Be warned, despite what your mates say, taking
a paintball to the body doesn’t tickle.
Out with the salads and in with the hearty
winter meals. The colder months provide
a great excuse to visit your favourite Swan
Valley eateries. Sample newly released winter
menus which showcase melt-in-your-mouth
cuts of meat, rich sauces, and full-bodied
wines. If you are a wine enthusiast, keep
your eyes peeled for mulled wine and winter
specials on bottles and cases of red.

lovers, this one’s for you.
Along with a spectacular
Christmas buffet with all the

Mulberry on Swan,
Jul 13 and 20.
Feral Brewery is offering
all the indulgence of
a degustation meal
and a whole lot less of the
snobbery. We kinda love
the sound of multiple
courses matched with beer.

Prepare to get seriously
filthy during this brutal
challenge, which could
take a couple of hours
or even the entire day.
The 9km obstacle course
isn’t for the faint-hearted:
the event includes ice,
crawling, climbing and
a lot of mud. Get your
rego in early because it’s
always a sell-out.
