1. Elmar’s Oktoberfest
Elmar’s gigantic two-acre beer garden is hardly big
enough to contain the Oktoberfest fun. Along with
all the German food and beer you can stomach,
there’s a stein-holding competition, tug-of-war and
a bouncy castle. Costumes are encouraged, so dust
off your lederhosen and dirndl. Elmar’s in the Valley,
Oct 25 and 26.
2. Welcome to the Valley
Beer enthusiasts unite! This highly anticipated event
is back again for its second year. The Oktoberfest-
inspired festival takes you on a journey through the
picturesque Swan Valley, and includes a traditional
German lunch and exclusive after-party at the Belvoir
Amphitheatre to see the spectacular evening out in

3. Fremantle BeerFest
Like the idea of having more than 250 Western
Australian craft beers at your disposal? Set
along the Fremantle Esplanade, the Fremantle
BeerFest does more than spoil visitors with
brews. There are also gourmet food stalls,
live music and beer masterclasses. Fremantle
Esplanade, Nov 15-16.
4. The Great Beer
and Cider Fair
Get ready to soak up some rays and enjoy
an exhibition of craft beer, cider and food.
This festival brings forth a day of gluttony and
family-friendly enjoyment. While the kids play
in the open areas overlooking the creek, relax
with one or many of more than 100 beers and
ciders on offer. Joondalup, Nov 22.

OPEN HOUSE PERTH
For people who can’t help

tell), Open House Perth
unlocks some of the city’s
most iconic – and mysterious
– heritage buildings. Various

This year’s PRIDEFEST,
the LGBTIQ community’s
chance to show who
they are, includes yoga
groups, rooftop movies,
Aboriginal theatre, drag
shows and comedy from the

FRINGE WORLD FESTIVAL
Can you believe the Fringe
is only in its fourth year? Last
year saw a record 370,000
attendees, proving cabaret,
circus, comedy, theatre and
burlesque never go out of
style. Various locations,

The big kahuna of local arts
festivals has a more diverse
program than ever. Catch
world-class exhibitions and
Guys with no shirts? Check. Girls in bikinis? Check. Beach
party where everyone’s invited? Check. Hot off this
year’s super successful run, for which a record 144 teams
signed up, the SLAM Festival returns with a vengeance.
Two-time tournament winner Sam Halley encourages
everyone to come down and give it a try. “I love playing
beach volleyball. And when you combine it with the music
and the festival atmosphere you get a great collection
of people and it makes for a fun day.” This social
competition invites anyone and everyone to play, just
grab a team of six and sign up. Promising live bands,
hot DJs, slippery slides, silent discos, your classic Aussie
barbecue and a beach bar, it’s become a January must!

BEAUFORT STREET FESTIVAL
Everyone’s favourite Mt Lawley street festival is back
for another year, and sure to make a bang! Stalls
will once again line the pavement, giving the Perth
public the best Beaufort Street has to offer. Creative
director Aaron Rutter describes this year’s festival as
“a playground for the community”. Focusing on four
key themes: music, fashion, art and food – which also
happen to be the four key ways to our hearts – the
festival promises to deliver a fun day out for families
and friends. Be sure to check out the art markets,
kid-friendly activities, and exciting new food events.
