SPRING MARKET FEASTS
Our round-up of the yummiest food this season
1. Crack pie
Yes, you read that right. The dessert, created and
even trademarked by New York City’s famous Momofuku
Milk Bar, comprises a naughty, creamy and eggy filling
on an oat cookie crust – and it’s as addictive as its
name would attest. Eating it will seriously put out your
nutritionist, but an occasional Saturday morning slice
(or three) can’t be that bad, right? Uh, don’t answer that.
Subiaco Farmers Markets.
2. Strawberry vinegar
Strawberry vinegar from Freshpict, a farm just outside
Albany, has become an unlikely pantry staple. We love
mixing it with a bit of extra virgin olive oil and some
Murray River salt flakes for an amazing salad dressing.
Albany Farmers Market.
3. Birdy NomNom
This got an inclusion for more than just the name, we
swear! This Franco-Vietnamese (yes, that’s a thing)
sandwich from Baguette Me Not is seriously tasty.
Marinated chicken, pate, mayo, pickled carrots and
daikon are nestled in a soft doughy bun, with loads
of spring onion and cilantro. Nom nom indeed!
TGIF HWKRS MRKTS.
We’re so stoked with the news Brazilian food truck
Comida do Sul got its licence back at Leighton Beach, it’s
like we’ve fallen in love all over again. We’ll be stocking
up on coxinhas (a deep-fried snack stuffed with spicy
shredded chicken) by the fistful. Various locations.
